In Science we are currently exploring the life cycle, particularly that of the frog and butterfly. Students can visit Brain Pop Jr. to watch videos and take mini quizes to reinforce what we are learning in class and to find out how much they are learning! Students should note the different steps of the life cycle for each animal and how the animal changes as it grows.
Keep on learning!

Mathematics- 2-D Shapes!
For our Geometry unit we are currently exploring 2-D shapes in the classroom. Visit IXL to practice and reinforce your child's learning about 2 dimensional shapes. Here they can take multiple choice mini-quizes to test their progress.

Bitstrips

Hello parents/guardians and students,
As another online resource to add to your library, i would encourage you and your child to visit Bitstrips. Here you can view and create educational comic strips. I encourage the students to explore creating an avatar and to attempt to create a comic strip. It can be about their weekend, a fun family trip or a fun school experience! I would love for the students to then comment here on their experience with this resource, how they found it helpful or fun!
As a fun activity to do at home visit the crayola website and have your child print and colour one of the fall colouring sheets from the website. I encourage students to observe the environmental changes just outside their windows and to use similar colours as they complete their drawing.
I would also like the students to explore the TVO Kids website. There you will find lots of fun and interactive educational activities. Try out the ages 2-5 first, if that appears to be too easy or not interesting enough for your child then explore ages under 11.
Enjoy!
Online Resources
For our up coming poster project students have the choice of either doing a digital poster or a physical poster. For the digital poster, a free and convenient online resource that students may find helpful is Glogster. Here you can create a multitude of digital posters! Simply create an account and follow the simple online directions. The students should take time to explore the website and it's various tools before finalizing an idea for their poster. Exploration, trial and error are excellent ways to learn new things! For an example please visit my Example Glog.
Feel free to post questions and give me feedback about this resource.
Happy learning!
Welcome to Miss Duarte's Classroom Blog!
Throughout the year, I will be posting information regarding classroom topics and units, fun links to explore, parent tips for you, at home activities to experience and classroom assignment details to this blog. I encourage you and your child to visit the classroom blog regularly to see what is going on in the classroom and how you can extend the learning experience by exploring new activities and resources that I will post here for you. Please comment to the posts, include your own neat ideas and findings as you and your child embark on this learning journey together with me. Although I have some intentions for this blog I would also like to know what you and your child will find helpful. Please let me know what you would like to see here and how you would like this to impact you and your child's experience this year.
I look forward to working with your children and am excited for all the new adventures we will have both in the classroom and in the online word.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Miss Duarte
